Mining Sector Still Being One of the Open Source Indonesia

JAKARTA - The mining sector currently remains one of the prima donna in moving the economy of Indonesia.

This is quoted from material Business Gathering "Challenges and Opportunities of Mining Enterprises in Indonesia" submitted by Chairman of Commission VI Airlangga Hartanto, at Graha Niaga, Jakarta, Thursday (05/05/2011).

"The mining sector in addition to remain one of the driving sectors of the economy of Indonesia, is also a trigger growth in other sectors. Also managed to provide greater employment opportunities for workers who directly or indirectly," he said.

He said the contribution has not been fully optimized following a still a number of obstacles that need to be resolved completely. The first problem is the technology that has not been able to maximize the results of such mines in other developed countries.

"Another problem is the persistence of firms in the mining sector has not indicated an operating permit or suspected illegal," he explained.

So the impact of that is the country suffered losses because the company did not pay taxes and do not care for the environment. As a result, mining products do not provide welfare benefits for the community.
