The former mine site was used as a botanical garden for a variety of community activities, including tourism, agriculture and research.

Meanwhile, Public Relations of PT NMR Prety Mamonto say, a visit to the location of former mines minister is a serious concern for the environment.

"PT NMR is responsible for the environmental conditions after mining activities, so we hope to be a good example for other mining activities," he explained.

There are about 180 hectares of former mining sites into forests that have been good, could even be a new nature reserve. Some residents hope that the location of ex-East Minahasa mine PT NMR, which has become a forest conservation area was exploited for tourism purposes.
