Minimum Reserves,Coal exports would Restricted
Jakarta-The Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) claims will make the rules concerning restrictions on coal exports to foreign countries. This is because Indonesia coal reserves were not many.
Secretary General of the Directorate General of Mineral and Coal KESDM Harya Adityawarma said it recently conducted studies to control the coal.
"We will find what is the appropriate technology so that any type of coal that can be exported and which are not exported. So yesterday was yet to be decided," he said when met at the Jakarta Enegy Forum, at the roundabout HI, Jakarta, Thursday (29/3 / 2012).
According to him, Indonesia coal reserves were not as much as China's coal reserves, and India. Indonesia coal reserves, only three percent of world reserves of 28 billion tons of which 78 percent of which is exported raw.
In fact, other countries like China which has a coal reserve of 115 billion tons, 59 billion tons of India did not do the same with Indonesia. "We export coal to China, nearly 25 percent (of total coal exports), but we do not reserve as much as China," he continued.
However, Adityawarman also explained that this year, there will be full utilization of coal used in domestic (Domestic Market Obligation / DMO) because in the country was actually in dire need.
"Coal production is expected to contribute in Mining sector as much as 332 million tons of coal at which DMO reach 82 million tonnes," explains Adityawarman.
Related to the coal export controls, Adityawarman mention that in fact these rules will be adopted in conjunction with the Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources No. 7 of 2012 regarding the prohibition of exports of mineral materials.
However, it was not ready so the government postponed it. The coal export settings are probably related to calorie coal. "There has been no official coal or calories so should not," he said.
Government targets, Chewing on the coal export controls will be completed this year.
